Every Friday we publish a newsletter to inform parents of the week’s and forthcoming events.
1st July 2016
Thank you once again. The donations of cakes and plants has been overwhelming. All ready for a fantastic day tomorrow.
We have had an extremely busy week this week.
On Monday the architects came to speak to the governors about the new school. If all goes according to plan the new school will be wonderful – a real asset to the whole community. Powys has also agreed that we can keep the pool open as long as it is completely taken over as a community transfer asset. The PTFA has agreed to take it on. We will be taking bookings for the pool in the Summer holidays. If you want to book any sessions for the foreseeable future please book with Jess on 07792348592. We hope to set up an on-line booking system. More information when this happens.
On Tuesday Years 5 and 6 went to Brecon to take part in an Olympic Day. Despite the rain everyone had a brilliant day.
On Wednesday we had Science materials from Techniquest for all classes. We also had an Art workshop for Year 5 from Brecon Museum. Some of their drawings will be used at the museum.
On the same day the school council and Year 6 were due to take part in a BBNP workshop using Minecraft to design plans for Hay on Wye. Unfortunately, Powys let us down and did not organise the IT facilities in time. The event has now been arranged for July 11th.
Yesterday Year 6 began to decorate their float for the Summer Fair and today we are sorting out as much as we can, ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the
starting at 11 am from the Town Clock. Please come along and make this a really successful event. It is through events like this the PTFA are able to do so much for the school including the free trip for all children to Langland Bay.
Next week is Healthy Week. All children will need shoes they can run in every
day other than Friday. The timetable for next week is as follows:
|Healthy Eating||Sports Day||Pollinator Day||Pentathlon Day
|Walk to Warren||Field Track pm|
Children will need sports kit and, if possible, a t-shirt, in the colour of their house (Blue/Wye, Dulais/Green, Llynfi/Yellow) for Sports Day. Everyone is welcome to join us for the track events at 1 pm on Tuesday.
On Thursday everyone can bring in their bikes if they want. There will also be swimming for everyone. This will be the only swimming session next week.
For Langland Bay everyone will need a packed lunch, suncream and sunhat. (hopefully) and a change of clothes. The children can also bring a bucket and spade but must be responsible for their own things.
A hectic few days planned!
In the summer holiday Jo is offering a crash course of swimming lessons during the week of 22nd August. The cost will be £20. If you would like to register or would like more information please contact Jo on 07891958067.
Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow 11 am – Town Clock.
